The museum was created in 2001 with the participation of the Municipality of Nigrita in the Leader program.

It is located in the traditional listed building in front of the well where, according to tradition, Gerakina fell.  The “Gerakinia” events have been held at the site since 1981.

On the ground floor of the building there is a room suitable for screenings and photographic material is exhibited.

On the first floor a part of the local folk culture of the area is exhibited. All exhibits are donations of Nigritins.
